EDUCATION Secretary Nicky Morgan made the most of her visit to Worcester last week - but didn't enjoy the city's congestion.

Her aides pencilled her trip in for various locations between 2pm and 5pm last Friday when Worcester's tailback-tracker practically blew up, with particularly perverse hold-ups hampering her every turn.

"The next time she's around we'll have to hire a helicopter," sighs Worcester MP Robin Walker.

* DURING her stay Mrs Morgan revealed she's been mates with Mid-Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston for over 25 years, with the duo old 'besties' at the University of Oxford.

If she does replace David Cameron, where will our man end up?

* THE opening of Worcester's new-look Cathedral island means we haven't got an island anymore - but nor have we yet got that open piazza, which is two years away from its glitzy fruition.

Surely this iconic site deserves an accurate, temporary nickname before it becomes the grandly titled Cathedral Square - Cathedral Strip, anyone?

Las Vegas eat your heart out.

* HIGHWAYS guru Jon Fraser rang up the other day, telling yours truly how pleased he was with the Cathedral project, but managed to send a shudder down The Source's spine by saying the "safety audit" was done and dusted.

Don't you know The Gods of Worcestershire have banned those haunting, infamous words from ever appearing in any public discourse, ever, ever again?

I can't even type it.

* COUNCILLOR Kit Taylor has an ideal solution for tackling fellow politicians guilty of allowing their phones to ring out during meetings.

The Tory, who chairs one of County Hall's scrutiny panels, wants "a £10 charge to my favourite charity" for future offenders.

That'll cause vibrations.

* WORCESTER'S deputy mayor Mike Whitehouse is quitting the city council in May after becoming fed up of being a "conduit" to local Lib Dem Sue Askin, the area's county councillor.

The irony is that the two went head-to-head for Sue's old city council seat in 2012 with Mike winning by 65 votes - but because most of the issues he gets calls about are County Hall's responsibility, like street parking, the man who booted Councillor Askin from the Guildhall is now effectively her receptionist.

If this isn't an argument for going unitary I don't know what is.
