IT was the year the Rolling Stones topped the record charts with Satisfaction and it was also the year young Bob Hemming started work with Strickland, the agricultural machinery engineers at Cropthorne, near Pershore.

Half a century on from 1965, Mick Jagger is still strutting his stuff and so is Bob Hemming. To mark the achievement, Mr Hemming was presented with a special gift from the company by managing director Chris Hopcroft and everyone joined in the celebrations with a hog roast.

Mr Hopcroft said: "Bob has completed 50 tireless and dedicated years with the company, seeing it expand and change from a local company repairing and servicing manufacturing and agricultural machinery, into a global market leader manufacturing crawler undercarriages. He typically didn’t want a fuss, but we had to mark this significant milestone. Bob continues working at Strickland’s into his 70’s, not only passing on valuable knowledge and training to new staff, but is an extremely active and hard working valued employee."

As the Stones once sang, he'll certainly Not Fade Away.
