The seeds have been sown for the inaugural Hampton Flower Show.

Green-fingered residents are being invited to showcase their horticultural talents at the event, which will take place on Saturday 30th September.

The show will be held at the new village green off Pershore Road, opposite Hampton Farm Shop, and will feature a variety of stalls, crafts, entertainment and activities.

The event has been organised by a group of local volunteers, and is being sponsored by Bloor Homes, whose new development, The Hamptons, is located next to the village green.

Gerald Bearcroft, chairman of Hampton Flower Show, said: “We are delighted to be launching the Hampton Flower Show this year, and we hope it will become a popular annual event in the local calendar.

“The show will be both a celebration of Evesham’s heritage as a horticultural hotbed and a fun-filled event for the whole family.

“The area is rightly proud of its reputation as the fruit and vegetable basket of England, and I would encourage local residents to put on their gardening gloves and enter their produce in the show.

“As an organising committee, we have been hugely encouraged by the response from the local community to our plans for the event, and we are extremely grateful to Bloor Homes for their valuable support in our inaugural year.”

Sally Holt, Regional Sales Manager at Bloor Homes Western, said: “The new village green being created as part of our development at The Hamptons will be a great asset for the local community, and I am sure it will make a fantastic setting for the Hampton Flower Show.

“We are proud to be sponsoring the first ever show this year, and we hope our support will help in making it a big success.”

Entries are now being accepted in 10 categories, ranging from flowers, fruit and veg, crafts, home baking and more.

Children at St Andrew’s Church of England School are taking part in a tallest sunflower competition and photos of their entries will be displayed at the event, while pupil Erin Lilley, five, won a competition to design the logo for the show.
