One of Worcestershire’s leading housing associations is listed in the top ten landlords for building affordable homes.

Fortis Living – which provides more than 15,000 homes throughout Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire – made last month’s Top 50 Biggest Builders survey, organised by Inside Housing, a magazine for housing professionals in the UK.

Coming in at number five, Fortis, by proportion, is also England’s largest developer of social rent homes, with 227 out of its 525 completions available for social rent during the 2016/17 period.

And with a continued shortage of affordable homes for rent up and down the country, Fortis sees its commitment to genuine affordability throughout the region as a cause for celebration.

Simon Vick, Assistant Director of Growth and Development at Fortis Living explained : “Our aim is simple; to maximise the supply of affordable homes targeted at a range of housing needs. We are therefore delighted to have been recognised by the UK’s most respected building survey.

“Many of the issues with social housing stem from the same problem; there just have not been enough rented homes built over the past few decades. But while there has been a huge lack of supply, demand for social housing has soared. Fortunately, our strong financial position allows us to outperform many other housing associations and build more homes, which obviously is great news for our tenants.”
