Apprenticeships – Make Worcestershire's future

Apprenticeships are critical for Worcestershire's future economic growth and offer excellent opportunities, not just for employers but also for young people wanting to achieve their first role in an organisation. Apprenticeships allow young people to earn and learn making them an attractive start to a career.

Typically an apprentice works in a business and either studies in their workplace or part time in a training environment working towards a nationally recognised qualification in the industry within which they work.

For Businesses providing an apprenticeship can prove to be very rewarding as well as cost effective, apprenticeships give an organisation a unique opportunity to develop and shape a young person's future in a way that best fits the business by focussing on the skills that will add real value to their business.

Apprenticeships can be hugely beneficial to a young person's career prospects, besides bringing significant benefits to businesses and are an important tool for developing a skilled workforce. Apprenticeships can even be studied at degree level making them a great alternative to University.

Worcestershire Business Central – the County's Economic Development Partnership – is committed to supporting Apprenticeships and ensuring that Worcestershire remains "Open for Business" and is one of our key priorities. Worcestershire Apprenticeships is a partnership including the National Apprenticeship Service, local Colleges, Training Providers and Training Providers' Association committed to increasing the awareness of the real value of Apprenticeships amongst young people, local employers and residents. The partnership over the years has managed to increase the number of Apprentices tremendously and is now looking to build on previous years successes. The partners are running this 12 weeks campaign which will show a variety of Apprenticeship opportunities available in the County and the support available. The campaign in sponsored by Skills Funding agency and European Social Fund.
