Close your eyes and think of the word wildlife'.
What springs to mind? Probably tigers and bears! but wildlife is all around us from grass and ladybirds to buzzards and oak trees.Worcestershire Wildlife Trust is an organisation which aims to protect wildlife for the future. We own 74 nature reserves in Worcestershire which we manage for the plants and animals which live there. You can do the same by looking after the nature reserve in your garden. First you need to explore it to find out what's already there. You could draw a plan, make a list or make sketches. Go to the Springwatch website to find out how you can register the creatures and plants you see www.bbc.co.uk/nature/animals/wildbritain/springwatchDo you?* put out food for the birds* put out water* have a pond* hAve a nest box* have an area of long grass* have some flowers* have a pile of logs* have a pile of stonesEach of these will encourage wildlife into your garden by giving creatures places to hide, sunbathe, shelter or breed, food to eat and water to drink and bathe in.If you'd like to find out more about wildlife you can visit our website www.worcswildlifetrust.co.ukORcome along to a Worcestershire Wildlife Trust event.* visit us with your school or club* join Watch - the junior members clubHappy wildlife watching!by Gill EvansPeople and Wildlife Manager
