Teenagers should opt for the 'Natural Look' this year.

The natural look is perfect.

Are you a teenager and want to look good? Then opt for the more natural look by using just a light application of make-up on your skin, as you are still young and naturally beautiful.

This year’s look is soft and subtle for you teens. The colours that work best for you will be the one that is closest to your natural skin tone. You will need to just add a small amount of colour to your face such as shades of pink, coral, neutral brown and grey. Here are a few tips to quickly transform a teenage girl.

• Use a concealer pencil that matches your skin tone to cover any skin imperfections, acnes, skin blemishes, scars or dark circles.
• Use a brow comb to brush eyebrows into place.
• Use a soft grey eye pencil to fill in any gaps in the eyebrows.
• Use soft grey eyeliner to line the lashes and blend it well to the outside edge.
• Apply one coat of brown or black mascara
• If your skin is of a warm undertone then you can use a sheer application of peach blush. < If you are of a cool skin undertone then soft pink shades are for you. Lightly blend with either a make-up sponge or a soft cotton wool ball.
• For your lips try to use a natural shade of lip colour or just sheer gloss for a soft nude look.

The cosmetic section of department and drugstores are filled with swirling pots of shimmery, bright potions in beautiful reds, blues, greens, golds, silvers, and on and on.

For teenagers just starting to wear make-up it can be a quite overwhelming as there is so much choice available. Make-up is a great way to enhance your natural beauty and your best features and achieve your own individual look.

To Keep your skin bright and natural

Firstly and most importantly you must take care of your complexion as this helps to develop a habit that will last for ever and help to keep your skin youthful as you age.

• Always cleanse your skin and remove all make-up and oils before you go to sleep at night.
• Try and use a gentle scrub on a daily basis and maybe a purifying mask once a week which will help to keeps pores clear and your skin fresh.
• You don’t really need to use a foundation but if you do want to hide blemishes just use a concealer to cover up.
• ALWAYS use sunscreen, even during the winter months as this will help protect your looks for the future.
• There are some great tinted bronzers on the market which will add color without covering up your natural glow, and will give you that instant sun kissed look. This can be used on your cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin.
• Face powders offers a way to brighten your skin without using a heavy foundation.
• Always have a good make-up brush as blending is the key to giving you that natural look.

Eyes

To achieve a bright-eyed look:

• Drink plenty of water and eat a healthy diet to help keep your eyes clear and bright
• To open up the eyes, line the outside upper rim with a liquid liner.
• Curling your eyelashes is another way to open up your eyes and it is best to do this before applying any eye makeup
• Use a white eyeliner pencil on the inside rim of your lower lashes to brighten the whites of your eyes.
• Be careful when plucking your brows – over-plucked eyebrows look unnatural.
• Use an eyebrow pencil a shade or two lighter than your natural brows to fill in any gaps and blend using an eyebrow comb or a soft toothbrush. Always comb brows in the same direction for a finished natural look.

The secret with lipstick is not to be too heavy handed when applying to lips. Try to choose shades that are suited to your colouring.

• Keep lips smooth by taking care of them. Apply a little lip balm before you go to bed and again in the morning before applying your lip colour.
• Neutral colours look good on both cool and warm complexions and there are some fantastic lip glosses on the market.
• Many products include sunscreen which is a great way to keep your lips from becoming dry and cracked.
• Lip plumpers are a great way to increase your pout if you have thin lips.
• Many brands of lip gloss now have colour built in and you should keep it fun and experiment with colours for the day wear and evening wear.

The secret to looking good is also to focus on one of your main features, never play up both eyes and lips at the same time as you could end up looking like a clown.
