This was the first Singles Festival I had attended like many of the other women and men who turned up on what was a glorious sunny day.

As I expected, there were more women than men. I was not the only women who was disappointed by this, but it was an entertaining day and there was a mixed age range, which was ok.

We started with introductions and some fun quizzes, where we moved around tables to meet new people and work as teams. There was a coffee break before Anna, who was carried out the Speed Dating sessions, was introduced. Because of the lack of male participants, the speed dating had to be carried out in two sessions.

This was a good way to find out about each individual. We had between three and five minutes to ask questions and the men moved to the next table. We then had an hour and half for lunch.

The afternoon was much more energetic - we had the opportunity to learn Salsa with John James and the chance prove our dancing skills. The atmosphere was very relaxed and most enjoyed this part of the day.

There was a cabaret act, in the early evening, which was very disappointing. Saying that, everyone just started chatting and laughing. The few men that were there decided to go to bar but returned again a little later when the dancing started again and John James performed some magic tricks.

There was a lovely buffet with a variety of savoury dishes. It was another opportunity for people to sit down, relax and talk with each other if they so wished.

I thought that the event was reasonable and - even though I myself did not find my ideal partner, due to the lack of men that attended - I have definitely made some single female friends.
