Review:
When we arrived, we were all shown around the spa then given our own locker with robes, slippers and towels, which were all, provided within the cost of £59.
We were each taken off to have our treatments. We had booked the Snugdowner, which is an evening of pampering from 5pm to 8.45pm. This package included one of the following 40 minute treatments: manicure or pedicure, rose facial, ocean glow and float body treatment or back, neck, shoulder and scalp massage. The package also includes a glass of wine in the bistro and an Italian antipasti platter with rustic breads and dipping oils.
I opted for the massage, which was great as the muscles in my back were very tense and the massage helped to relieve the knots and tension. Rachel had the pedicure and Stephanie had the rose facial.
Stephanie said: "The facial was a real treat. The therapist cleansed and exfoliated my skin before applying a mask. While the mask got to work I had the choice of a hand and arm massage or head massage. I opted for the scalp massage and it was fantastic - very relaxing. Finally, the therapist applied finishing creams, leaving my skin feeling soft and refreshed. I would definitely recommend it."
Rachel said: "The therapist that did my pedicure was charming and friendly and made me feel very at ease.
This was not a particularly indulgent treatment as the pedicure was basic in so far as it was really just a shape and polish with no attention paid to the rest of the foot. The results however were very professional and for a 'mini manicure' which was how it was described, I certainly had no complaints".
After our treatments, we went to the thermal suite, where we were able to relax and unwind. We tried the steam room, and the vitality hydro pool, which was very nice. We also tried the outdoor cascade pool, which was amazing, as the air was freezing cold and the water hot. There was also a sauna inside and out and a 12 metre indoor pool, complete with resistance jets and waterfalls.
After we had experienced the thermal suite, we showered and dressed then went into the bistro where we had supper.
We all left Chessgrove feeling very relaxed and would definitely visit again. We all agreed that the Snugdowner was great value for money.
