A CONFIDENT Worcestershire schoolboy has proved himself to be the most entertaining speaker at a competition.
Pershore High School student Danny Sanders, aged 14, took part in the Malvern Rotary public speaking competition.
Taking as his theme, “Political Correctness erodes our democratic right to free speech”, his four minutes went well with the audience and he even at one point defended the ladies’ right to eat cake.
His polished and easy manner set the audience at its ease and he was ably supported by Jack Riley and James Dodson, who gave engaging speeches of their own.
This is the second year running that an individual prize at the Malvern competition that has been won by Pershore High students.
John Rees, head of IAG (information advice and guidance careers) said: “Danny had the audience eating out of his hand. He has a great future in politics or comedy – or both.
“We have a great tradition of public speaking at Pershore High School and our students always rise to the challenge.”
Danny said: It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and we are looking forward to future competitions.
A big thank you to the team’s coach, Mr Corbett.”
Headteacher Mr Corbett said: “Danny fully deserves this success. He is a spirited and free-thinking individual who is a talented public speaker.”
