For some time the whole school community of Tenbury High School, i.e. Parents, Staff, Pupils and Governors has been very concerned about the speed of vehicles driving past the school on the Oldwood Road. Although there is a 30mph speed limit on the road, and West Mercia Police frequently do speed checks, still many vehicles ignore the limit. The school is very concerned that it is only a matter of time before there is an accident.
At present the school is drawing up its latest Travel Plan with the help of Wendy Sumner, WCC School Travel Plan Advisor. A part of the plan was to conduct a survey of parents, staff and pupils to highlight areas of concern. The speeding issue was ‘top of the list’.
p At a recent meeting, which was attended by representatives of School Governors, West Mercia Police, Parents, Pupils, Staff and WCC Councillors, it was agreed to pursue various suggestions in order to make the road and its usage safer for everyone, including the school community. Consultation is now going on with the County Council, the West Mercia Police and other interested parties to see where this will lead.
Meanwhile, as can be seen from the photo, the pupils have their own ways of making traffic aware of the hazards.
