Fund-raisers live up to ‘Gospel values'

THOUGHTFUL pupils from a Worcester school have managed to raise £1,100 for overseas relief.

Children from the Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College on Timberdine Avenue raised money for CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) during the season of Lent.

Fund-raising activities included ‘Penny Races’, and the money will be used by the charity to buy goats, construct wells and buy medicines which will alleviate suffering and improve the lives of many people.

Earlier in the month, pupils raised £1,000 for the victims of the conflict in Gaza. The money was sent to the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) to assist in Palestinian relief.

Headteacher Sean Devlin said: “It is through such fund-raising activities that pupils’ awareness is raised of the inequality in our world and that pupils can live the ‘Gospel values’ which underlie the ethos of our college.”
