A TALENTED year seven pupil at a Worcestershire high school has won a prestigious competition.
Luke Robinson from Tenbury High School was a winner in the key stage three section of the Young Gifted & Talented Programme competition.
The national programme offers services that challenge, inspire and motivate the top 10 per cent of children in the country.
Held last year, the competition asked children aged from four to 16 to review an educational website that they have found useful and also asked key stage three and four students to answer questions about the programme’s learner catalogue.
Luke reviewed the BBC’s school revision website and won book vouchers worth £100. He also picked up £500 of book vouchers for his school and £500 to spend at the programme’s Learner Academy.
His mother Penny Robinson said: “Luke was thrilled to be chosen as a winner in the competition and is looking forward to spending his book tokens.”
Gary House, deputy headteacher and director of specialism added: “As part of his prize Luke should have first pick of the courses. Spending of the school book tokens will be discussed and agreed by pupil members of our school book club, our librarian and the school council.”
The competition has generated a directory of educational websites, which will be available to all Young Gifted & Talented members through its website in the spring.
