HARRY Cotterill scored the winner as Nunnery Scorpions Under Nines defeated rivals Nunnery Lions in the Stourport Youth League.
There were a number of chances in the first-half but some poor finishing let the Scorpions down along with some good saves from the Lions’ keeper.
Cotterill broke the deadlock with a fine individdual effort. He gathered the ball in a central position just outside the area before turning and firing a low shot into the net.
The Scorpions kept up the pressure after the break but the Lions came back into the game with some neat passing.
Good defending from Louis Smith and George Baker, and some confident goalkeeping from Jake Williams, ensured the Scorpions’ lead remained intact.
Worcester Colts were 2-0 winners at Warndon Rhinos.
The Colts started better and it needed Finley Stanley to keep the Rhinos in the game with some important tackles. Sean Dayus also made some saves.
However, the visitors were not to be denied and they struck twice in the second-half. The Rhinos went close through Daniel Payne.
UNDER 13s: Pershore Town thrashed Alveston 7-2 in the Ambassador Evesham League.
Pershore were helped on their way by a Barnett hat-trick and goals from Shepherd and McIlvenny.
