FOOTBALL: Hungry Sharks show no mercy to Youth

WARNDON Villages Sharks Under 12s went goal crazy with a 15-0 beating of Ferndale Youth Panthers in the Stourport League.

Andrew Murphy and Jai Gilchrist bagged hat-tricks for the leaders who only avoided going behind when Liam Dayus cleared off the goal-line.

Sharks led 7-0 at half-time and two-goal Joseph Kealey volleyed home with his first touch as Sharks added eight more in the second period.

Matt Sowden (2), James Ridge (2), Kieran Burns, Dayus and Jack Rule were also on target.

A late Joe Bates goal secured an important 2-1 victory for Nunnery Wood Tigers at fellow high-fliers Kidderminster Lions.

Tigers should have gone into the break with more than the one-goal advantage provided by Brad Hunt’s strike.

Lions equalised during a second-half comeback and were only denied more by keeper Toby Wilcox and the post before Bates’ lob won Tigers the game.

UNDER NINES: Nunnery Wood Scorpions, inspired by player-of-the-match George Watkins, sealed an 8-0 success at Warstones Wanderers in the League Cup.

Harry Saunders fired Scorpions ahead before Ashley Mace crowned a fine move with the second goal.

The visitors stepped up the goal-scoring in the second period with James Francis, Alex Hunt, George Baker (2), Mace and Harry Cotterill’s superb header adding to the scoreline.

Warndon Villages Rhinos lost 3-0 to leaders Meadow Park in a tightly-contested clash.

Charlie Roberts caused Park problems and Harvey Groves went close with a long-range effort but Park always looked dangerous and opened the scoring with a well-taken goal.

The visitors doubled their lead before half-time and added a third goal in the second period.

For Rhinos, Daniel Payne threatened down the left wing and player-of-the-match Harry Ewins impressed at the back, while Groves and Jonathan Burman worked hard.

■ Oldbury Park Tigers Under 15s lost for the second successive season at the Worcestershire FA Cup semifinal stage.

Fielding a squad of just 11 due to injury and illness, they went down 2-0 at Bromsgrove Rovers Youth.

Fluent football proved difficult on a muddy, uneven pitch as keeper Ross Williams and his defence had to perform well.

Jordan Murton, David Walker, James Day, Tom Baker and Martin Welsby went close to scoring but Rovers went ahead through a controversial second-half free-kick.

They broke away to add a late killer goal which ended Tigers’ hopes.
