Students perform in shop window

DRAMA students from the University of Worcester used a shop window as the setting for an unusual performance.

The Ultimate Party Shop in Angel Place hosted Biographical Washing Powder, which was about airing dirty laundry in a public place.

Sophia Harley, aged 21, from Bromsgrove, who is in the third year of a BA drama and performance degree, said the shop window provided an ideal location.

Miss Harley said: “A shop window is normally used for things you want to put on display but airing your dirty laundry is not something you would want other people to see. It was exciting to perform in the city centre, our class mates and tutors were watching but passers-by could stop off and watch, which added to the reality of it.”

Fellow student Amelia Stevens, 21, from Redditch, said: “We wanted to look at the idea of how people go about airing their dirty laundry in public.

“It is not the sort of thing you would expect to see in a shop window so we were hoping to catch people by surprise and have a bit of fun at the same time.”

The girls carried out two performances on Wednesday at 10.30am and 11.15am.
