YOUNG and talented disabled athletes in the two counties will be taking part in a special event this weekend.
The Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire together with the Herefordshire and Worcestershire competition manager team are holding their playground to podium event on Sunday at the University of Worcester.
The aim of the event is to identify potential paralympic athletes for London 2012 and beyond.
There will also be an opportunity to try out and demonstrate four different sports – football, table tennis, athletics and wheelchair basketball.
This follows a successful pilot last year, attended by 100 young disabled athletes, of which two went on to become medallists at the UK school games.
Stephen Brewster, director of the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire, said: “We’re delighted that our young disabled athletes have a chance to demonstrate their skills at this talent identification day.
“We wish them all every success and hope they enjoy the day”.
The University of Worcester will be hosting the event, supplying all facilities for the four national governing bodies and the 100 athletes attending.
