A SECOND-year nursing student from the University of Worcester will be trekking across Tibet this summer in aid of charity.
Rhoswen Lloyd, aged 24, from Liverpool, will start the trek in August, when she and a group of 11 others from Charity Challenge will walk more than 200km in aid of the charity Clic Sargent.
Clic Sargent cares for children and young people with cancer. Its aim is to provide clinical, practical and emotional support for the children and their families during their time of need.
Miss Lloyd said: “I am quite excited. I love a challenge.
I spent my gap year trekking around New Zealand, which I hope has prepared me for this.
“As a nursing student, I’ve come to see just how many people are affected by the disease. I want to do what I can while I have the opportunity.”
She is already planning her next challenge for charity next year, when she will be embarking on a bike ride from Peru to the Amazon, also in aid of Clic Sargent.
She has been awarded a £550 scholarship by the University of Worcester’s scholarship panel for assistance with her bike ride next year.
The university’s scholarship panel awards grants of up to £1,000 towards voluntary work or activities, to pursue a particular interest such as music or arts, or towards courserelated activities.
