At the end of June the people of Worcester were treated to a fantastic series of Fashion shows, which took place at the School of Art & Design in Barbourne. The event was organised and produced by the students from the college who study Fashion & Textiles courses at National Diploma level and Foundation Studies.
The work shown included Fashion ideas for ladies and menswear and childrenswear, with inspiration taken from a wide variety of themes including the 1960's and the 1980's as well as secret garden and animal kingdom.
Colour, pattern and texture were key elements in the surface pattern and fabric manipulation that was very evident in a number of textile projects. These influences were best displayed in the collection of very directional outfits for male and females modelled by the textiles and graphic design students. With themes such as The Poet' and The Eccentric' these outfits would definitely get you noticed in a crowd.
Many of the outfits presented were produced by students who will be progressing into the second year in September and who will be contributing to this website to give you ideas about fashion and discuss a whole range of related subjects from size zero models to eco friendly fabrics.
You have met two of them already, Josie and Alice, but there are many more who have a lot to say for themselves, including what it's like to be a Fashion & Textiles student. You have probably seen the programmes on TV about Fashion Designers, keeping in touch with this website will give you the chance to find out for real!
Here are some photos from the show; I hope you can tell from them how much fun it was and how well the students did?
