My Fashion Icon Is:
Dita Von Teese

Occupation:

Dita Von Teese is best known for her burlesque routines and is frequently dubbed "the Queen of Burlesque by the tabloids. However she also models for her favourite fashion designers such as the legendary Vivienne Westwood.

Why I love this person:

I absolutely love how Dita can wear literally anything, and still look amazing in it. With her black hair, pale complexion and trade mark red lipstick, I believe that she is truly beautiful. She also adores 1940s fashion and classic retro, which I love too, however she still keeps on top of today’s fashion and is often seen sat at the front of the top fashion shows.

Most iconic outfit:

I have chosen this picture, as it shows of all of her best features. Dita is most famous for wearing nothing but corsets and stockings, showing off her extremely tiny waist. However, in this picture, she is wearing something different and still looks fabulous. I love how she is wearing all black, it really shows of her pale complexion. I also like how the outfit is very simple but still looks amazing on her.

What else makes them so great?

Dita Von Teese is an inspiration to lots of women, as she doesn’t care what other people think of her and her outfits. Her china doll make up, extremely tight corsets and perfect hair styles make her individual to all the other ‘icons’ out there. There isn’t really anyone else like Dita in the fashion world today, which is why I idolise her.

Fashion Faux pas:

Well, this dress personally doesn’t flatter her at all. It makes her look much older than she really is and the pattern looks like something of a table cloth. The extra long leather gloves really don’t go with it at all. Not only do they look tacky, they make her look quite weird and scary. And for her choice of male company, well with him, let’s just say she would fit in nicely at a Halloween party. But even though she doesn’t look her usual glamorous self, she is still my idol.
