'Holiday History Club'
Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th February 2009
10.00-12:00 or 1.00-3:00
£4 per child
Spring is on its way and an ancient mythical battle will be the theme of the Holiday History Club run by Discover History.
On Tuesday children can prepare for battle on the side of the Green Man. The Green Man is a representation of Spring. Originally a pagan symbol but most churches such as our very own Cathedral have
a number of carved green men.
Thursday will see the green mans legendary enemy- The Frost Queen. She aims to keep her icy grip on the world, preventing Spring appearing.
Children are left with Discover History at the Tudor Heritage Centre and crafts are made with an historical theme. Historical facts are also put across making history a fun.
'Our History club meets every holiday and is a great way to learn history. In the past we have made Egyption tombs, witches ducking stools and even a medieval castle!' said Paul Harding who runs
Discover History.
