ANIMAL lovers in Worcester are in for a big surprise if they go down to their local Pets at Home store.
If children are looking for something fun to do this half term they can go to Worcester's Pets at Home store on the Blackpole Retail Park.
Every weekday afternoon at 4pm, and 2.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays, children can attend Picnic Time, an interactive learning session where they can watch the pets being fed their healthy afternoon snacks, learn about their feeding habits and how to care for pets responsibly.
And it's not just during half term, customers are invited to come and watch Picnic Time every afternoon at the Worcester store from now on.
Store manager Jayne Field said: "Picnic Time gives our teams the opportunity to share their knowledge on feeding and caring for pets. Our feeding routine is also beneficial for the pets' digestive systems and health, helping to reduce the risk of indigestion, bloat and upset tummies. We have lots of different pets in store including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and gerbils. The guinea pigs get especially excited when it's Picnic Time and they like to make lots of noise just to make sure they get our attention.
"Children love to see our pets being fed, so Picnic Time is a great way to get the children involved and excited about looking after pets responsibly while having fun, plus our pets love it too," she added.
The sessions will also dispel some common misconceptions about what should be fed to certain animals.
