Worcestershire County Council's Worcester Library is set for a summer of fun to keep young imaginations fed with exciting tales to beat the school holiday blues.
A host of activities for children and families are taking place at the Foregate Street library to transport minds to magical and mythical places through the power of reading.
The summer Quest Seekers Challenge, which runs until September 12, is open to all youngsters aged between five and 12-years-old. Those who read six books will receive a medal and certificate to mark their achievements.
Other highlights include The Very Hungry Caterpillar Birthday Party (August 12), which will celebrate one of children's literature's favourite characters turning 40 and a Knights and Princesses event (August 6), where visitors are encouraged to come in fancy dress to hear magical tales of brave knights and beautiful princesses.
The Fantastic Creatures - Life in the Rainforest workshop (August 20) will see presenter Paul Carpenter visit with his rainforest creatures and the summer programme will conclude with Magic Carpet Tales (August 27), where children will be able to create their own carpet before being whisked away to faraway places with stories of wonderment.
The popular Bounce and Rhyme sessions will also continue to run throughout the holidays.
Those interested in attending any of the sessions are advised that booking is essential for some events. To book a place or for further information please call Worcester Library on 01905 822722 or email worcesterlib@worcestershire.gov.uk
