Bring the family, bring the dog for a walk in the nearby Countryside Centre and relax with some lunch and a bit of live music.
Workshop Schedule:
Stella Thomas of Jo Jingles – workshops at 11.00am till 11.30am, 11.50am till 12.20pm and 12.40pm till 1.10pm.
Kari Vaughan of Monkey Music - workshops at 1.15pm till 2.15pm and 2.45pm till 3.45pm.
Live Music Schedule:
1.30pm till 2.30pm – Groucutt & Haynes
Groucutt & Haynes supported Midge Ure on his solo tour of the UK last year. They perform both acoustic and with a full band and have been compared to the likes of Jack Johnson, Turin Brakes and Paul Simon. Their music has an upbeat acoustic funk vibe with meaningful lyrics and beautiful harmonies. They use a range of instruments to compliment both guitars, including Saxophone, Flute, Keyboard and African drums (Cajon and Djembe).
3.00pm till 4pm - Laura Thomson
Laura Thompson is a twenty-five year old singer songwriter from Worcester. Her interest in music started at the tender age of eleven when she penned her first song, but it wasn’t until the age of sixteen that she took her first steps into forming a band. It was around this time that she started taking guitar lessons and put together punk pop outfit ‘Alice Loves Picasso’ as part of the Access To Music course run by Worcester College Of Technology.
It soon became apparent that her heart lay, not with playing bass, but with taking on the greater challenge of vocals and acoustic guitar. Inspired by the music of Ani Difranco and Gemma Hayes, she began writing and recording her first acoustic demos and went on to receive great reviews from local pundits. Now in 2009, Laura is once again lining up local gigs and will be returning to the studio to record an album later this year.
