Worcestershire County Council's County Museum is giving children and their families the chance to keep boredom at bay throughout the summer holidays, with a range of events for young and old alike.
For children, activities are taking place every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday throughout August. Children will be able to join in four different craft activities each day, of a wide range including making fossils, masks, hats, mobiles, cards, clay models, Dinosaur art and much, much more.
In addition, on Bank Holiday Monday (31 August) the museum is hosting its Teddies & Toys event. Youngsters are encouraged to bring their bears along for the fun, which includes a teddy bear’s picnic in front of the castle, a Toy Trail, various stalls, games and activities, music, dance, face painting, balloon modeling and magic!
And for everyone else there is plenty of outdoor and indoor activities on offer at the County Museum this summer. New exhibitions will be opening on the ground floor of the museum on July 31 exploring the wonders of Worcestershire and for July and August only, visitors will also be able to walk through the Castle State Rooms including the Great Hall, Saloon and Chapel.
Further activities include the chance to enjoy the sunshine in the castle grounds or explore the nature reserve, 300-year-old Cider Mill, and Transport Gallery, which houses a large collection of horse-drawn vehicles, a locally-made car, a range of cycles and one of the finest displays of Gypsy caravans in the country.
The museum also includes a café in an historic Castle Kitchen and a gift shop selling everything from preserves to jewellery by the Worcestershire Guild of Designer Craftsmen.
Rachel Robinson, Visitor Services Officer for Worcestershire County Council, said: "We're hoping for good weather over the holidays, but the County Museum at Hartlebury has something for everyone this summer come rain or shine. And this year it is even better value for money as visitors can now purchase a Family Pass which allows a family of four to visit us as many times as they like in a year for just £28 and includes entry to all the summer activities."
For further information on the activity days call the museum on 01299 250416 for details of the timetable or see the events page of the website at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/museum
