CALLING ALL ADVENTUROUS FAMILIES IN WORCESTER!

As all the hype and festivities of the Christmas period settle and parties dwindle in those days before New Years, hundreds of Worcester families will be stuck for things to do in the vacuum between Christmas and New Year celebrations.

To save Worcester families from boredom and to celebrate the launch of the search for Britain's Most Adventurous Family, theme park Chessington World of Adventures has compiled the Top Ten adventurous things to do in Worcester during those 'lost days'.

The list for Worcester ranks the George Marshall Medical Museum, Spetchley Park Gardens and making a camp.

Children's TV presenter Nick Baker, who has teamed up with Chessington and VisitEngland to find 'Britain's Most Adventurous Family', said: "When I was a child I was forever playing in the garden and rummaging in the bushes. By simply getting outside you can easily find adventure".

TOP TEN WORCESTER ADVENTURES

1. Go for a family bike ride together - don't forget to pack a treat to have when you reach your furthest point.

2. Get the whole family to climb a tree, not just the kids!

3. Draw a treasure-hunting map of your local area and challenge your family to find the treasure using just a compass and the map

4. Discover disease, pain and surgery in the 19th century at the George Marshall Medical Museum. Of key interest is the collection of plaster casts of the heads hanged criminals!

5. Use old wrapping paper to create a papier-mâché snowman to be displayed in the garden

6. When it's cold outside, you can still have an adventure indoors. Build a camp and ask mum and dad if you can sleep in it overnight.

7. Invite your friends to your house, dress up as adventurers and go on safari in the garden. There's so much to see, even in the winter.

8. Look for rare bugs and deer at Spetchley Park Gardens

9. Take a trip back in time to The Commandery and hear exciting stories about, power, greed, war, wealth, romance, death, society and industry in the 12th century

10. Think about the most adventurous things you have done with your family and apply to be Britain's Most Adventurous Family at chessington.com/wildasia,or nominate another family that you think could be crowned Britain's Most Adventurous Family!

Three families will be invited to a boot camp with Nick Baker at Chessington World of Adventures on Wednesday 7th April 2010 where exploration of the brand new land, Wild Asia, will be the name of the game. The overall winning family will be crowned Britain's Most Adventurous Family, walking away with a fantastic family adventure holiday!

The closing date for nominations is 31 January 2010.

Age limit: Please note children need to be between 4 and 16 to enter the competition.

Chessington World of Adventures & Zoo is open from 27 March to 1 November 2010, with selected Zoo Days during September and October.
