A NEW season of live and acoustic music starts at the Swan Theatre tomorrow. The aptly named Swan Sessions will run once a month and give local talent the chance to perform unplugged in a relaxed and laid back setting, but still in front of a paying audience.

The musicians will also get a portion of the box office profits.

Kicking off the session tomorrow afternoon will be singer songwriters Dan Days and Alan Neilson.

Days is renowned throughout the south of Ireland having toured and gigged there over the past five years.

It was in Ireland that he recorded a tantalising selection of his latest material for the EP - Life of Reilly. His passion for what he does is powerfully reflected in his work, and anyone who has seen him live will bear testament to the fact that with the sound of his voice and his style of playing he can hold an audience in awe throughout the entire set.

Alan Neilson has been writing songs since he was 12 years old. He considers himself a songwriter first and foremost and a lot of his songs tend to be based around love and relationships. The idea for the sessions was launched in the Worcester Live programme when interested musicians were invited to step forward.

Julie Fisher, operations manager at Worcester Live, has since been inundated with CDs and promo discs from bands and musicians.

She said: "The response has been quite amazing. I never realised the wealth of unsigned talent in the region, which is of such a high standard. I hope that the sessions will become a helpful and enjoyable platform for local musicians and audiences alike."
