CENTRE STAGE with Chris Jaeger of Worcester Live

What a relief - Aladdin is up and running, and everybody who comes is loving it.

We invest about £90,000 in the pantomime, so it is always a huge worry until it actually starts and we see the reaction of both children and adults. It is absolutely suitable for both, and so popular is pantomime generally that we get many all-adult parties and groups coming. It is, however, the schools' matinees which generate the most noise, and when the knicker-nicking panda arrives in Widow Twankey's Laundry unseen by the lady herself, (well, perhaps lady is the wrong word in this context!) the wall of sound created by the children shouting to warn her has to be heard to be believed. It's a good job that the theatre's foundations are sound! It's great fun, and we can guarantee you a great show, without one soap star of possibly dubious talent!

May I take this opportunity to wish everybody a very happy Christmas? So many of you support us during the year, at the Hall, the Swan, the Festival and for the first time this year, at Shakespeare at the Commandery.

It is always tough financially in the arts, so your support is essential to the well-being of the arts provision in Worcester. So many of you do come regularly, and we love you! Please keep coming in 2008!
