HEARTBREAK Productions return to Hanbury Hall this month to perform frothy farce Charley’s Aunt.
Written by Brandon Thomas and first performed in 1892, the play tells the story of two champagne-swilling Oxford undergraduates who convince their friend to wear a dress and pretend to be their elderly aunt. Identities are mistaken, tea is taken and laughs ensue.
The open-air production at Hanbury Hall, near Droitwich, is billed as bright and intoxicating. It is directed by John Terry. Expecting a good show, the hall’s visitor services manager Alice Eddy said: “Charley’s Aunt has proven to be as great success, so we are delighted to be hosting this performance.”
Light refreshments will be available before the performance on Thursday, June 10, although the audience is invited to bring picnics. Gates open at 6.30pm with the performance starting at 7.30pm. For tickets, priced £12 for adults and £8 for children, call 01527 821214.
