THE countdown to the Big Chill in Ledbury has begun.
There is a month until close to 30,000 music lovers descend on Eastnor Castle’s deer park for the annual summer festival, running from Friday, August 1 to Sunday, August 3.
Musicians with a penchant for playing acoustically are being given the chance to busk at the festival. Organisers are holding open digital auditions. There are 10 slots open and MP3 demos should be e-mailed to buskers@bigchill.net – remember to put Buskers in the subject line.
The non-genre specific performers will get two 40- minute sets on the Big Chill Welcomes stage and all, from beatboxers and rappers to orchestra and solo singers are invited to enter. Buskers will get weekend tickets for them and a friend, as well as all the latest Big Chill Recordings.
Closing date for entries is Monday, July 14. The Big Chill is a melting pot of music, art and relaxation. Performing this year will be the legendary singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, the Mighty Boosh, Mr Scruff, Moloko’s Roisin Murphy, and the Buzzcocks. New to the line-up is Brighton-based dub/folk artist Fink. For full line-up and tickets go to bigchill.net.
