WHAT happens when you mix the Fab Four with Shakespeare?
If you are Chris O’Neill and Scot Williams you get a highly original musical called A Bard’s Day’s Night. The show is currently in workshop stage and due to be released in 2009. But later this year, O’Neill – who played Paul in popular tribute band Backbeat Beatles and George Harrison in the film Backbeat – is coming to Worcester to preview some of the songs.
The one-man show, at Huntingdon Hall on Tuesday, October 28, features Shakespeare’s sonnets and speeches set to music inspired by The Beatles.
Audiences will not only recognise lyrics but also pick out familiar music techniques, melodies and phrases. “All songs are original compositions and the complicated language structure has been shaped into contemporary tunes,” said O’Neill. He also said the show will appeal to Shakespeare lovers, music students and Beatles fans alike.
For tickets, priced £14.50, call the Worcester Live box office on 01905 611427.
