THE MASONS ARMS

The Mason's Arms has undergone a transformation from “Thai to traditional” as its new owners bid to turn it into one of the top destination pubs in Worcestershire.
Formerly a Thai restaurant, the friendly, welcoming pub just a short drive from Worcester has been totally transformed under the watchful eye of husband and wife team Laura and Nibs Grist, who grew up in Worcester and are delighted to have returned home after cutting their teeth in the trade in Soho and Surrey.
As well as a complete interior refurbishment, the couple have totally overhauled the menu to offer a substantial selection of home-made and freshly prepared “British classics with a European twist”.
Whether you opt for a homemade beefburger, delicious chicken, bacon and leek pie or one of the tempting vegetarian choices such as chilli and coriander marinated halloumi and toasted cous cous salad, you can be sure of receiving excellent value for money, with most main courses costing between £6 and £8.
Laura and Nibs want the Mason’s to be enjoyed by all, so offer a senior special of two courses for £5.50 on lunchtimes between Monday and Friday, as well as a dedicated children’s menu packed with healthy choices to ensure the little ones are getting plenty of their five-a-day.
Having three young children themselves, they know how difficult it can be to find somewhere to eat out as a family, so they take great pride in their ‘kid’s corner’ packed with toys, games and even a DVD player.
If a sit-down meal doesn’t take your fancy, why not take a seat in the comfortable bar area and sample a couple of dishes from the Mason’s varied and increasingly popular tapas menu.
Guests can also enjoy a traditional Sunday roast or try the takeaway menu, where head chef Marek Ivasienko – who used to work for Jamie Oliver at his restaurant in Guildford – steals the show with his delicious pizzas, which are proving so popular that a special pizza night is being introduced alongside quiz night every Thursday.
There is live music every Wednesday or if you just fancy a few quiet drinks, there can be few places in the county that offer such a spectacular setting, with the front beer garden perfectly positioned to catch the sun all day and enjoying stunning sunsets and unrivalled views out over the beautiful Teme Valley.
