A WORCESTER vocalist has released her debut album after fans helped her smash through a fund-raising target.

Givvi Flynn gave her supporters an exclusive treat in the form of Thieving From The Magpie's Nest on Sunday, April 14 after they backed its release via the fan-funding website, PledgeMusic.com.

Having launched the campaign on January 31, Givvi broke her target after just four days - reaching more than 180 per cent of the original goal, thanks to 237 pledges.

"After being encouraged and persuaded by numerous lovely folks, I have decided that the time is right to release my debut album.

“I chose PledgeMusic because it is specifically tailored for musicians and it is the best way for independent musicians to fund, record and release their music."

The album features a mix of original songs and cover versions, with long-standing music partners, multi-instrumentalists and producers Jay Clark and Eli Cameron recording it in the Faithful City.

It also includes exclusive songs written by Ginger Wildheart and Willie Dowling.

Givvi added: "The whole team is blown away by the response. I thank all the people who have pledged so far for the amazing support.

“I wish you continue to tell your friends, family, kids, dogs, accountants, therapists etc about my new album and I will love you forever."

She previously released an EP in 2008 and has shared both stage and studio with the likes of Jackdaw4, Wolfsbane and Ginger Wildheart.

As well as having 20 years of musical experience, Givvi holds BA in Contemporary Voice along with a Professional Diploma in Contemporary Vocals and teaches others to sing in rock, blues and alternative styles from her home studio in the city.

Some 10 per of everything raised over the target will be donated to the British Heart Foundation.
