A WORCESTER man — who is one half of an electronic dance group — is celebrating after being signed to a record label.

NVOY, founded by Worcester DJ James King, and Connor Turner, from Nottingham, have been popping the champagne since their signing to Black Butter Records.

James, aged 22, and Connor, aged 21, are now preparing to release their latest singing, 'All Night'.

The pair met while studying at the SAE Institute in Oxford and both graduated with a BA (Hons) in Audio Production.

James, whose family live in Claines and who previously studied at Bishop Perowne C of E College and Worcester College of Technology, said: "Our music is futuristic house music. You can describe it in basic terms as dance music.

“SAE gave us the framework we needed. It helped us find our feet, gave us time to make music and use the amazing studio spaces to record our music.

"They also provided a strong network of academic staff and supervisors to support us. They were always on-hand which was just what we needed.

"Black Butter is a young label, they’re still building up their roster of artists and are a great platform for developing ourselves as an act, within a framework of people and other artists that we really respect.

"We’ve admired Black Butter as a label for a while. They approached us initially to contribute a track ‘You Are’ for a compilation they released earlier this year. We’re now working with them on a more long-term basis, which is great."

The pair have just returned from playing to thousands of people in Ibiza and are still on tour, but this news has come as a welcome return for their hard work.

James added: "We played Glastonbury this year. We’re also heading for the French Alps to play the Transition Festival for a week. This year's Notting Hill Carnival is another gig we're looking forward to."
