WHEN songwriter Carole King met fellow song-smith James Taylor, she realised she had a friend, to paraphrase one of her greatest hits.

Now the story of that friendship is coming to The Swan Theatre in Worcester, with a concert-style show.

A spokesman said: "From the creators of the smash hit West End show The Simon & Garfunkel Story, comes You’ve Got A Friend: a brand new concert-style show celebrating the friendship and music of two of the world’s greatest songwriters of all time – James Taylor and Carole King.

"Since writing her first number one hit Will You Love Me Tomorrow at the tender age of seventeen, Carole King has arguably become one of the most celebrated and iconic singer songwriter of all time."

The spokesman added: "To date, more than 400 of her compositions have been recorded by more than 1,000 artists, resulting in 100 hit singles. James Taylor recorded King’s You’ve Got A friend, gaining the number one spot in the Billboard charts. Taylor has one of the most recognized voices in popular music and has sold over 100 million albums throughout his career.

"A heart-warming story intertwined with the music that shaped a generation, the show features classic hits such as I Feel The Earth Move, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), Fire and Rain, You Make Me Feel (Like A Natural Woman), Sweet Baby James and, of course, the beautiful You've Got A Friend."

The show stars seasoned West End performer Kyla Brown as Carole King and Bill Lennon as James Taylor.

The date for the diary is Thursday, April 20 at 8pm.
