ANYONE who has been to one of Blobbie's shows before will surely back me up when they say it's as much of a comedy show as it is a musical performance.

Worcester's own Blobbie Williams, a heavyweight tribute to pop star Robbie Williams, performed at Huntingdon Hall on Saturday night, with support from another local act, Done By Sunrise.

I was raised on Robbie Williams, thanks to my mother, and although I tend to choose heavy metal concerts over pop shows and comedy, I had a fantastic time.

Huntingdon Hall proved the perfect setting for this, as it appeared to me that wherever you sat in the intimate converted church you were more or less guaranteed a good view.

As soon as I entered the venue I noticed that it was a bit on the chilly side, and an announced apology from management confirmed that ongoing work was being done to the venue which meant heating wasn't available.

I'll admit that this worried me, as there is nothing worse that being sat shivering, unable to concentrate on the show. But this was not the case. Done By Sunrise soon had the audience clapping along to their infectious original songs and medleys, so that the place warmed up before long.

Having never seen the band before I was impressed by their talent and how much I enjoyed watching them and listening to their music, which was incredibly well put together, fun at all times and occasionally very touching.

Done By Sunrise proved the perfect warm up for the main act, and the moment Blobbie - real name Tony James - entered the stage it was literally almost a laugh a minute performance.

He managed to strike a balance between being very, very funny to perfectly capturing the emotion of some of Williams' biggest hits, including She's the One and Angels.

Audience interaction made up a large part of the show which had some very entertaining outcomes at times and Blobbie had the audience on their feet dancing for almost every song.

From the fantastic voice to the look, Blobbie provides a fun night and fans of the real thing won't be disappointed.

Although the show seemed to pass too quickly with not as many songs performed as I would have liked, it was a brilliant evening which you would find hard to walk away from without a smile on your face.
