Which Witch? Wicked the untold story of the Witches of Oz the West End prequel to The Wizard of Oz has finally opened in Bristol and wow it has been worth the wait.

A tale of two witches Elphaba is the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the North meet as sorcery students at Shiz College. Elphaba is subjected to bullying at college due to the colour of her green skin who is befriended by Ga-linda the privileged, gorgeous, beautifully spoken blonde who has a heart of gold.

Whilst at college Elphaba discovers that animals are being held captive and uses her magical powers to fight for their freedom.

Emily Tierney  as Glinda is superb - witty, full of humour, perfect comic timing - her rendition of Popular as Ga-linda filled the auditorium with laughter. Ashleigh Gray as Elphaba has it all she is sensitive, full of fire and passionate, has the most amazing voice I’m Not That Girl was special. The bond and chemistry between these two very different characters is unique who clearly love each other despite their different backgrounds, they were fabulous leads who are magnificently supported by the large very talented cast.

Defying Gravity performed by Elphaba, Glinda, the Guards and Citizens of Oz was another personal highlight.

No expense has been spared on this tour with the incredible clockwork set of the Emerald City, impressive spectacular costumes, perfect lighting and a wonderful orchestra this is every bit a West End show on tour!

A must see production runs until Saturday,21st March at the Bristol Hippodrome.
