TONIGHT was the second time The South have played The Regal, and judging by the response from the crowd it won't be the last.

The South was created several years ago when the Beautiful South parted ways.

Tonight the band played a host of new tracks as well as the old favourites we know and love so much, including Perfect 10, Rotterdam, A Little Time, and of course, the uncensored version of Don't Marry Her.

The band said at the start of the gig that this was their first gig in five months, and that they were nervous, but the audience couldn't really tell.

Launching into the music, they sounded great although sometimes in the first half of the set the vocals got lost in the sound of the instruments.

During the interval someone asked if dancing was allowed which the South wholeheartedly encouraged - and thankfully the venue allowed.

The second half seemed far more upbeat than the first in terms of set list and the audience, and by the end of the night most of the room was up and dancing.

It was a fantastic gig which left us smiling for a while after. The South sounded brilliant and were incredibly entertaining.

With it also being my first trip to the Regal I was thrilled to be able to get a drink from the nearby bar and actually drink it in the gig and dance.

So if you have a little time to check them out in future I wouldn't miss it.
