I PLAYED in Nunnery Wood Youth Band (as it was then) from 1983 to 1993 and I thoroughly enjoyed the Worcester Concert Brass 35th Anniversary Concert.
It was great to catch up with players and those associated with the band from the 1980s, to reminisce about previous performances, players and to perform pieces I probably haven't played since I left the band.
What was particularly interesting and nostalgic was to look back over some of the photos that were on display and appeared in Worcester Evening News historically, particularly the ones where we played at Earl's Court, Olympia, at the World Travel Fair in September 1984.
I remember being allowed a day off school, travelling down with my fellow bandsmen on a coach, playing 3 pieces [Ceramic City Festival, Elgar's Nimrod and Pomp & Circumstance March No.4]. I have many happy memories of NWYB, made some great friends and see many in brass band circles today.
Looking forward to a Worcester Concert Brass Golden Anniversary event in 2032!!
The raffle for St Richard's Hospice raised £321.
