THE Blues are coming to Worcester’s Huntingdon Hall this weekend, thanks to Zoë Schwarz Blue Commotion.

The spokesman said: “Since the band’s first gig back in February 2012, Zoë Schwarz Blue Commotion has refreshed the blues genre with mostly self-penned material, hugely original arrangements, virtuosic playing and, of course, Zoë Schwarz’s majestic vocal sweep and interpretive ability.

“Nominated for both Female Blues Vocalist of the Year and Blues Album of the Year in this year’s UK Blues Awards, there is no denying that Zoë Schwarz Blue Commotion is a truly independent and original band.”

The spokesman added: “The whole band, in its entirety, creates a luxurious and irresistible sound, displaying virtuosity and artistic finesse. Described by Gio Pilato in Blues International 2017 as “One part Janis Joplin, one Billie Holiday, and one Nina Simone”, Zoë Schwarz’s dynamic and commanding vocal delivery is both eclectic and suave at the same time.

“She is joined by creative partner (and husband) Rob Koral, who adds his electrifying and unmistakable touch and flow on guitar. The highly accomplished rhythm section of Pete Whittaker on Hammond organ and Paul Robinson on drums (Nina Simone, Van Morrison and Paul McCartney to name a few) completes the four-piece, whose combined CVs are second to none in the British music scene.”

In March of this year, Zoë Schwarz Blue Commotion celebrated its sixth anniversary with the release of their latest studio album, The Blues And I Should Have A Party.

The spokesman added: “The band’s seventh album in only six years is testament to just how fertile and productive a time the band is having; it is obvious that the musical chemistry and drive of songwriters Zoë and Rob will not let the band stagnate for a moment.”

The date for the diary is Saturday April 7, from 7.30pm.
