THE ARTRIX venue in Bromsgrove has announced details of its late summer and autumn season of music, theatre, film and comedy.

Highlights will include a visit from Vienna Festival Ballet and a new take on Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

A spokesman said: “This season there’s a fabulous selection of musical acts coming to Artrix. Highlights include the unpredictable vocal group The Wild Tonics on Friday August 17, followed by Andy Fairweather Low & The Low Riders on Sunday September 30. Audiences can experience a whole weekend of Exploring Shostakovich, including concerts by The Dante Quartet, keynotes talks, master classes and film from Friday October 26 to Sunday October 28.”

The spokesman added: “November sees the return of Dominic Kirwan with Celtic Country on Friday November 2 and legends of Irish music and song, The Fureys come to Artrix with their 40th Anniversary tour on Tuesday November 6.

“Theatre highlights include Super Hamlet 64, a fast-paced retelling of the Shakespeare classic, full of retro animation, music and comedy on Friday September 21. And New Perspective Theatre Company present their new production, The Fishermen, based on the Man Booker Prize shortlisted novel, on Tuesday October 2.”

Families can choose from a number of theatre and music events during the summer holidays, including one for the parents as well as the children on Wednesday August 1, with How Does This Politics Thing Work?

The spokesman added: “Later this season, The Ensonglopedia of Animals comes to Artrix with fascinating facts and hilarious rhymes on Sunday September 16

“The laughs continue with big name comedians including the return of The Scummy Mummies with an all-new show on Friday September 14, magician and funny man Pete Firman on Wednesday September 26 and star of BBC 1’s They Think It’s All Over, Lee Hurst is back on the road with his latest show Mucking About on Sunday October 7.”
