Sister Act The ‘nun’-tastic musical Sister Act finally arrived in Bristol and boy it has been worth the wait.

Based on the 1992 smash hit movie, it tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier (Cynthia Erivo) who was unable to continue after the extended interval, up stepped understudy Gemma Knight Jones for the second half – both actor’s were wonderful with superb voices, as the story unfolds Deloris witnesses her boyfriend commit a murder and is forced to hide out in the convent.

Mother Superior (Denise Black) eventually agrees that Deloris can stay and the rest as they say is history - the soul singer transforms the lacklustre choir into divas.

The choir’s reputation grows quickly and soon the church is packed with people wanting to see the soul sisters.

A superb cast, fabulous costumes sparkly habits and head dresses, glitzed up choir boys and great music even though it is not that used in the film – my favourite It’s Good to be a Nun.

The fast paced, high energy, hilarious show is the perfect way to spend a January evening.

Produced by Whoopi Goldberg and Stage Management, Sister Act is a divine musical comedy.

Sister Act runs until Saturday, 21st January at the Bristol Hippodrome.
