SUSAN Boyle catapulted from obscurity to worldwide fame overnight as a result of her first appearance on Britain’s Got Talent a quiet unassuming middle aged lady without the looks of a superstar startled the judges and ultimately millions of people as she sang I Dreamed A Dream thanks to the viral phenomenon that included You Tube and other video broadcasting websites – within 10 days the clip of her performance had 103 million hits.

The musical written by Alan McHugh (Doctor) and Elaine C Smith (Susan) covers the trials and tribulations that Boyle faced throughout her life especially during her early years that included bullying at school followed by her only romance denied by her Father – her dream more than anything else was to sing, her Mother offering full encouragement.

The death of her Father, Mother and eldest Sister all impacted on her life.

Something’s are meant to be during an interview Subo was asked who she would like to see play her in a movie? Her reply Elaine C Smith, who narrates and acts out the life story with real emotion, passion and laughter.

Elaine is supported by a cast of 11 actors and a seven piece band that cover a range of music from Scarlett Ribbons to Heartbreak Hotel thro Daydream Believer to How Great Thou Art.

This remarkable story gives an interesting look at a woman who has found that dreams really do come true.

I Dreamed A Dream runs until Saturday, 5th May at the Bristol Hippodrome.
