TWENTY six years on, a relaunch in 2011 to mark the 25th anniversary of Phantom of the Opera one of London’s greatest ever musical successes is magnificent.

By the end of the show there were tears everywhere as the love, passion and drama of lovers Christine and Raoul were haunted by the love of Phantom for Christine.

The Phantom is John Owen Jones who has played the role almost 2000 times – more than any other actor is compelling his incredible performance chilling and deep at times with a rich, silky smooth voice. Katie Hall as Christine and Simon Bailey as Raoul are the perfect lovers in the eerie dark world. Katie a former contestant for the BBC’s search for Nancy in I’d Do Anything was immediately cast by Andrew Lloyd Webber to cover Christine after leaving the competition – what a voice…

There are many highlights throughout the show which include the spine tingling duet of The Phantom and Christine as they sing The Phantom of the Opera, the moving stage set which is full of surprises that takes you into the back and beyond of another world at the Opera House and into The Phantom’s hiding place, Masquerade in the Grand Ballroom by the full company on New Year’s Eve is spectacular.

The iconic chandelier set high in the centre of the auditorium at the Bristol Hippodrome, fabulous music and an outstanding cast ensure a memorable evening.

The Phantom of the Opera is on until June 30th.
