ASPIRING artists who would like to learn more about the craft can take part in lessons with an established Christian artist.

As well as art tuition, Amanda Lewis, based in Sidbury, Worcester, is also hoping to expand and give talks to church groups and organisations such as the Women's Institute (WI).

She will be giving her first ever short presentation of her paintings to the Hope Church ladies breakfast at Lloyds Bar, Broad Street on Saturday, November 8.

Her work has appeared at 15 exhibitions and, most recently, the 49-year-old's paintings were exhibited in Malvern Library and prior to that at Worcester Cathedral.

As well as being a gifted portrait painter, she also uses Gouache paints to create images of the cross and symbols of her faith.

Ms Lewis was employed as an art teacher in a prep school in the past and for eleven years worked as an art and craft workshop leader for mental health charity MIND in both Kidderminster and Worcester.

Ms Lewis, who studied fine art and specialised in painting at University of Gloucestershire, said the classes would be able to help develop budding artists.

"In the individual lessons we can look at the tradition of portraits, learn new skills in drawing and painting.

"They will be able to develop their skills and knowledge of colour or tone and drawing skills as well as increase their knowledge and range."

A selection of Ms Lewis' work can be seen online at studiesofthecross-com.webs.com.

To book an individual lesson, costing £10, call 07542 228190.
