A FAMILY favourite Christmas film will be brought to life during a unique performance by an "inspiring" orchestra.

The People's Orchestra's will be holding a showing of the all-time classic children's film The Snowman at Malvern Theatres on Sunday, December 7.

As the popular film of the boy who builds a snowman who then takes him on the adventure of a lifetime is played on the big screen, the orchestra will be performing Howard Webb's mesmerising score.

Among the audience will be world-renowned composer John Altman, who is well known for his work as a composer and musician working on film scores such as Titanic, Goldeneye and Life of Brian.

He is also famed for producing the number one single Walking In The Air performed by Aled Jones.

Sarah Marshall, co-founder and managing director of The People’s Orchestra, said they were all looking forward to the performance.

“We’re incredibly excited about performing The Snowman once again.

"This is the second time the orchestra has recited the whole score of the film and it is an honour to be performing in front of someone who was instrumental in giving Walking in The Air it’s classic status as an internationally recognised piece of music."

Sixty five members of the orchestra, along with principal conductor John Brennan, will be tuning up to perform the classic score to an audience of over 600 people.

The People’s Orchestra is a charity organisation funded by Arts Council England and members.

As a charity, it exists to support people searching for steps to employment and performs throughout the year at a range of events across the Midlands.

Mr Altman, composer and musician, said: “The People’s Orchestra is an incredible organisation that offers so much to people of all ages looking to continue their musical talents”

"Concerts like this are inspirational, not just for the audience but also the musicians themselves. I am really looking forward to being a part of the performance”.

This unique performance will precede a concert of popular Christmas music by candlelight where the orchestra will inspire the audience to raise their voices to popular carols such as O’ Come All Ye Faithful, Away in A Manger and Hark The Herald Angels Sing.

The show begins at 1.30pm and tickets cost £16.80 available by calling 01684 892277 or online at malvern-theatres.co.uk.
