MARY will be taking her young son Joseph for a very special walk around Kidderminster town centre on Monday, December 22.

Worcester-based Vamos Theatre, the UK’s leading full mask theatre company, will be bringing its new festive walkabout act Countdown to Christmas to the town.

It features two special mask characters - mum Mary, weighed down with presents and off to buy more, and her bored young son Joseph whose naughtiness knows no bounds.

Mark must keep charge of Joseph and shoppers may have to help.

Countdown to Christmas aims to being some well-needed hilarity to the Christmas shopping season.

Rachael Savage, Vamos’s artistic director, said: “We’re delighted to be part of Kidderminster’s Christmas celebrations, and are looking forward to adding some Vamos magic to the Christmas themed activities going on in the town.”

Vamos Theatre, which also tours theatre productions nationwide, has been performing Walkabout since the company began in 2006.

Characters have been seen at all kinds of events including Glastonbury Festival and Lovebox 2014, arts festivals, weddings, parties, and parades.

In Worcestershire, they have performed at Worcester Artillery Day and Tenbury Wells Mistletoe Festival.

The performance in Kidderminster is part of Wyre Forest District Council’s Christmas festivities which features a specially-chosen selection of street entertainers in the days leading up.

Vamos Theatre will be performing between 12pm and 3pm.
