IF you fancy turning a new leaf in the new year and taking up a new hobby then look no further than Number 8 Readers’ Group.

The group meet on the first Tuesday of each month starting back in 2015 on Tuesday, January 6 in the upstairs bar of the theatre from 7.45pm.

The reading group are hoping new members will join them in 2015 to share their love of reading and expand their reading horizons.

Meetings are friendly and informal and usually lasting between one and two hours during which members discuss the month’s chosen title, share their views and reading experiences and hear about books other people have enjoyed.

Reading material varies each month and titles are chosen purposely to expand reading beyond usual patterns.

Sometimes members all read the same title or they may agree a theme or an author and then choose titles individually.

Past titles and themes have included Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman, The Female Eunuch by Germaine Greer and The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson as well as film adaptations, foreign language novels translated into english and poetry.

Group members benefit from a Readers’ Group library ticket, which allows them to reserve books without charge and borrow books for longer than normal.

Anyone wishing to join should come along to the next meeting or contact marketingassistant@number8.org.
