COLD weather and a chance to meet up with friends could be behind why The Courtyard in Hereford is seeing unprecedented demand for films this winter.

Mr Turner, The Imitation Game and My Old Lady were originally in the November to December film guide but all sold out in record time.

The Courtyard will be screening them again to make sure customers get the chance to come and watch the classics.

Mr Turner (12A) will return on Friday, January 16 at 11am, Tuesday, January 20 at 11am and 2.30pm and Thursday, January 22 at 11am.

It will give people a chance to see Mike Leigh’s portrait of the eccentric, masterful JMW Turner, a barber’s son whose sublime landscapes and wonderful seascapes have made him Britain’s favourite painter.

There will also be another opportunity to see Benedict Cumberbatch as genius code breaker Alan Turing in The Imitation Game (12A) on Friday, January 9 at 2.30pm, Monday, January 12 and Thursday, January 15 at 11am, Monday, January 26 and Tuesday, January 27 at 7.30pm.

Extra screenings of My Old Lady (12A) will take place on Friday, February 6 and Monday, February 9 at 11am, featuring down-on-his-luck New Yorker Mathias (Kevin Kline), who inherits an apartment in Paris that comes with an unexpected resident as part of the deal.

But when he wants to sell the place, he is shocked to discover feisty Englishwoman Mathilde (Maggie Smith) who is not prepared to budge.
