WORCESTERSHIRE'S dance development organisation Dancefest has recently appointed Melissa Porter as its new business development manager.

She will work with director Rose Beeston to build on the organisation’s significant achievements in raising the profile of dance in different settings since its beginnings as a festival in 1990.

Last year, 5,425 people took part in over 1,700 Dancefest classes and workshops from toddlers to people in their 90s.

Dancefest also works in schools, colleges and universities, with community groups, including organisations working with older people, disabled people, and young and disadvantaged people.

She joins Dancefest from Arts Council England where she had been the relationship manager for dance in the midlands since 2009.
